Two More Down...

Surprise, surprise - I kinda slacked off updating my blog the last couple weeks. In Autumn's words, "You should be ashamed." After crying myself to sleep over the shame and disgust of not keeping up with my blog, I decided I will write something worthwhile on here. This one will be rather short n' sweet.

I finished two more tasks! A couple weeks ago I made homemade pizza for the first time. I found a recipe for beef fajita pizza and gave it a shot. It turned out perfect - sirloin steak, diced green pepper, salsa, black olives, and monterey jack cheddar cheese. The recipe also called for onions, but I don't care for onions at all so I had omitted them. I definitely want to make homemade pizza again, but I think I'll go for the more "traditional" route next time.

I also fulfilled my latest addition to my list; I got a massage. Metro or not, it sure was relaxing. I've had knots in both shoulders, particularly my left shoulder, for a long time, and the massage did wonders to get them out. There's still some lingering knot in the muscles, so I'm planning on going back for another round. I could see this becoming a regular thing in the future.

I'm going to work on blogging on a regular basis again, and I do want to talk about Obama's health care plan. I had promised myself I wouldn't get too political in writing blog posts, but this is far too big of a deal to not discuss. Coming soon....

2010 MLB Predictions Sure To Go Wrong (TM)

It's a tradition like many others, although this year I'm doing it well before the season actually starts. My picks last year were pretty darn awful, so why not make it two years in a row?

AMERICAN LEAGUE

Division Champs:

AL East - New York Yankees
AL Central - Detroit Tigers
AL West - Seattle Mariners

Wild Card - Tampa Bay Rays

Cy Young - Felix Hernandez

MVP - Mark Teixeira

NATIONAL LEAGUE:

Division Champs:

NL East - Philadelphia Phillies
NL Central - St. Louis Cardinals
NL West - Colorado Rockies

Wild Card - Atlanta Braves

Cy Young - Adam Wainwright

MVP - Chase Utley

WORLD SERIES

New York Yankees vs. St. Louis Cardinals

Winner - St. Louis Cardinals

For the record, I'd be happy if I got even 25% of these picks correct.

Wanna Get Away?

This has been a super rough week at work. The good news is that the worst is behind me, but it's made me think a lot about where I am in my career.

Tuesday was my one-year anniversary at my job. Fittingly enough, it was probably one of the toughest days so far there. I got home that night and barely slept because I knew there was plenty more waiting for me the next day. I won't bother going into details over the hows and whys of what went down since it would take far too long to explain everything, but the bottom line is that it was just plain awful.

These events made me really want to get away. I haven't had a real vacation in almost three and a half years, and I think a week or so away from all the stress of work and life could be magical. I've had weekend getaways to the beach here and there, but those types of breaks only go so far. My family had been planning a week-long cruise for this summer, but due to several complications, those plans had to be cancelled. I was really looking forward to getting away from everything, even if it meant having to go through the process of getting a new passport (ironically, getting a passport is one of my tasks to accomplish anyways, so I would have ended up killing two birds with a single stone).

I still need a real vacation. I already took off for a four-day weekend coming up in two weeks for a tradition with my best friend from college (The first two days of the NCAA Tournament - we sit on the couch, drink beer, and watch college basketball for two days straight. It's beautiful). I'm certainly looking forward to that break, and I expect I'll return to work the following Monday refreshed and rested.

It's a recurring theme here, but to be continued....
